I’m reminding somebody today: even if July wasn’t perfect, even if you fell off, even if that journal is three months behind , you are not disqualified. You are being developed. 🌱

It’s 4:00 AM.

I couldn’t sleep.

Instead, I found myself sitting in front of my computer, looking at She Abides She Leads in my Mac Books app… turning the pages, checking the formatting, and simply taking it all in.

For months, I’ve poured my heart into this assignment. And over these last few months, every time I got closer to the finish line, it seemed like the enemy would rear his ugly head.

But every single time, God reminded me that He had already gone before me.

But God.

This book is more than words on a page. It’s a testimony of God’s faithfulness, His timing, and His promises.

What Does a Successful New Grad Look Like?

Week 4: Find a Mentor Who Will Tell You the Truth

One of the greatest decisions you’ll make as a new graduate nurse is who you allow to mentor you.

Don’t just choose someone because they’re experienced.

Choose someone whose character matches their clinical excellence.

A great mentor won’t just celebrate your wins.

They’ll challenge you.

They’ll correct you.

They’ll hold you accountable.

And they’ll help you become the nurse God has called you to be.

Remember…

Correction isn’t rejection. It’s preparation.

Some of the greatest growth in my career came from mentors who loved me enough to tell me the truth—even when it wasn’t what I wanted to hear.

So don’t run from feedback.

Receive it.

Reflect on it.

Grow from it.

One day, you’ll become the mentor someone else is praying for.

Integrity is doing what’s right, even when it’s difficult, unpopular, or misunderstood.

There will be moments when your decisions are questioned.

There will be seasons when people misunderstand your intentions.

There will be times when standing on truth may cost you comfort, relationships, or approval.

Lead with integrity anyway.

Never compromise your values to gain acceptance.

Never sacrifice your character to make someone else comfortable.

Your reputation is built on what people say about you.

Your integrity is built on who you are when no one is watching.

As leaders, we don’t answer to people first.

We answer to God.

So lead with honesty.

Lead with humility.

Lead with courage.

And above all…

Always lead with integrity.

Read.

Attend conferences.

Join professional organizations.

Pursue certifications.

Find mentors who will challenge you.

Learn from experienced nurses.

And never stop investing in yourself.

The best nurses aren’t the ones who know everything—they’re the ones who never stop learning.

Leadership Lesson #2: Trust God in Every Situation

This lesson wasn’t taught in a classroom.

It was taught through seasons of opposition, criticism, misunderstanding, and moments when I had to decide whether I was going to trust what people were saying… or trust what God had spoken.

I’ve learned that when you know God gave you the assignment, you don’t have to spend your time defending yourself to people who don’t understand it.

Keep your eyes on Him.

Keep your heart pure.

Keep walking in obedience.

God sees what others don’t, and He’s faithful to complete what He started.

Please don’t feel guilty about sleeping in, relaxing, or simply taking a pause.

Take time to love on yourself today.

Spend time in the presence of the Lord and allow Him to refresh your mind, your heart, and your spirit.

And remember… just because you’re spending time with your girls doesn’t always mean you’re resting. 😂 Sometimes that’s fellowship… not rest. Both are a blessing, but don’t forget to make time for both.

There are seasons when faithfulness doesn’t feel exciting.

It feels like showing up.

Praying when you don’t feel like praying.

Serving when you’re tired.

Choosing integrity when no one is watching.

Trusting God when you don’t understand what He’s is doing.

If that’s where you are today, I want to encourage you:

Keep going.

Your faithfulness matters.

God sees every quiet act of obedience, every sacrifice, every tear, and every prayer that no one else knows about.

He has not forgotten you.

“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for carrying us through another week.

For the one who is weary, be their strength.

For the one who is discouraged, renew their hope.

For the one who feels unseen, remind them that You see every act of obedience and every sacrifice made in Your name.

Help us to remain faithful, even when the results aren’t immediate. Give us the courage to keep serving with excellence, to love well, to lead well, and to trust that You are working all things together for our good.

As we enter this weekend, may we find rest in Your presence, peace in Your promises, and renewed strength for the days ahead.

The redirection.
The lesson.

Today, I want to challenge you to pause and ask yourself:

What blessing have I been overlooking because it didn’t come packaged the way I expected?

Take a moment today to thank God—not just for what you understand, but for what He’s working out behind the scenes.

TRUE & TESTIMONY TUESDAY 🤍

Part 1 of 6: Never Let the Title Make You

One of the greatest leadership lessons the Lord has taught me is this:

Never let the title make you. You make the title.

Titles come and go.

They can be given.

They can be taken away.

But if your identity is rooted in Christ, no title has the power to define your worth.

A title may describe your position, but it should never determine your identity.

Your character.

Your integrity.

Your humility.

The way you treat people.

Those are the things that leave a lasting legacy.

Don’t spend your life chasing titles.

Spend your life becoming the kind of leader who honors God wherever He places you.

Because long after people forget your title, they’ll remember how you made them feel.

The Lord has a lot to say about humility.

“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”
— 1 Peter 5:6–7 (NKJV)

In other words, you don’t have to exalt yourself or chase titles. Stay humble, trust God, and let Him do the promoting.

And if you need another reminder, here’s one more…

“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.”
— Philippians 2:3–4 (NKJV)

Leadership has never been about making ourselves look important.

It’s about humbly serving others, honoring God, and remembering that every title is an assignment, not an identity.

Don’t chase titles.

Seek Christ.

He knows exactly when, and where, to elevate you.

Before Monday asks you to lead, spend time today preparing your heart. 🤍

Tomorrow you may be walking into a heavy week.

A busy week.

Conversations you’ve been dreading.

Decisions you didn’t ask to make.

Or circumstances you can’t even prepare for.

As I prepare for the week ahead, I still have several weeks of evaluations to complete. The weight on our unit has been heavy, and healthcare continues to change.

Today, I’m praying for my nurses and our Clinical Partners—that they do not grow weary in doing good.

I’m praying for my fellow nurse leaders, my colleagues, and every healthcare professional. As healthcare continues to evolve, it is often our frontline caregivers and the patients we serve who bear the greatest burden.

Yet, we are still called to show up with excellence, compassion, and love.

That’s why I choose to spend time with the Lord before the week begins. It doesn’t always change what’s waiting for me on Monday, but it changes how I walk into Monday.

So today, spend time preparing your heart.

And if you would, please join me in praying for our nurses, our Clinical Partners, our leaders, our healthcare teams, and the patients and families we will have the privilege of serving this week.

May God strengthen every weary heart, grant wisdom for every decision, and remind us that we never walk into the week alone.

As I prepare to interview a new group of graduate nurses today, the Lord placed it on my heart to pray for each of them.

To every new graduate nurse preparing for an interview, I want to encourage you.

Take a deep breath.

You have worked hard to get here. Every clinical, every exam, every late night, every challenge, and every victory has prepared you for this moment.

Walk into your interview with confidence, humility, and authenticity. Don’t try to become who you think they’re looking for. Be who God created you to be.

Remember, one interview does not define your future. If a door doesn’t open, trust that God is ordering your steps. What He has for you cannot be taken from you.

Praying that you walk into every opportunity with peace, confidence, wisdom, and the assurance that God’s plan for your life is greater than anything you could imagine.

Congratulations, Class of 2026. I’m cheering you on and praying for your journey. 💜🙏🏽
